You have no control, but you do have choice
Most people start their personal development journeys because they feel like they have no control over their lives and think that self help will allow them to have more control.
And in a lot of ways, that's true. But I think it's easy to get disappointed when situations don't go your way even when you feel you've made the best decision to get the outcome you desire.
The truth is, we (meaning our human selves) don't have much control over what happens to us and no amount of personal growth will change that. Unpleasant experiences happen and it's not actually personal. Sometimes they happen for us to learn and grow. Other times, to show us how much we've grown. And other times, there's no bigger reason - some people are just assholes.
Either way, what we do always have is choice over who we're going to be. That choice is what ultimately creates the lives and realities we desire. When we focus too much on one situation and we use that attachment to determine how achieving a specific goal will go, it's really easy to lose motivation. But when in the face of adversity, you double down on the person you choose to be, you inadvertently choose the exact reality you want to create.
I think this message is especially important while we deal with the news of the decision the US government has made today. A decision that strips so many people of their choices and sense of control over their own bodies.
We can't control the situation, but we can choose to be people who fight against injustice, who take care of one another, and who support each other.
What I'm celebrating this week:
Space. The last few weeks have been full of back to back meeting with clients and prospective clients. I'm not complaining, but in the last week, I've been able to find some more balance and space to rest and take a breath in between serving you all and I'm so grateful for that.
Speaking of, I finally got the time to go on a trip to Miami I've been planning for months and made so many memories with old friends, while connecting with some cool new people!
A couple of my clients are ending some karmic growth cycles and stepping into a much more empowered version of themselves - this has looked like bravely letting go of situations an identities that no longer align with them or what they want and I know it's been an intense week for them. I am so so so proud of their commitments to themselves and where they're going.
I also signed some really creative, successful new clients this week (lots of musicians, interestingly enough) and I'm so excited to serve you guys!
